Why I am obsessed with boys shirts reason numero uno—
They make great workout Gear!
No but seriously they do.
My secret obsession with boy clothes started when i was in High School, my friend and I would shop up Good Wheel for never worn graphic tshirts and cut them up to wear to the gym. Back then, we wore baggy ill fitting sweats and shorts with these shirt, using them for function not their coolness—
If only I had known then what i know now, and that is athletic inspired looks are back in the biggest possible way.
I have been working in Mens product development for about a year and a half now, so I have been able to witness first hand the reemergence of athleisure. I have also been tempted on to many times with these mens samples, that before i came to my senses I was passing by.
It was not until we had a surplus of available fabric samples with really cool graphics, that I began to think about how I could use these items in a cool way. And just like that I was brought back to my childhood, and can not get enough of these boyfriend t’s cut all the way up for athletic wear and a cool yoga pant finisher. The great thing about Mens wear is that is is naturally longer and bigger on the shoulder, given it a normal oversized fit. Then, who need LuLu’s when you can take a simple cotton t and cut it up for wear– don’t forget where you are headed.
Which brings me to my final 3 take aways–
1. Use old or unused graphic Mens tshirts to work out in by cutting them mid shoulder to a quarter of the way down. Then get a fun sports bra and wHaLA you are done and have a look all you, and for much less
2. IF you spend a lot on your work out clothes, but go to the gym and stand around never breaking a sweat or Not going to the gym at all, you should be ashamed of yourself.
3.I personally feel that a great pair of yoga pants and cool cotton t are just has functional and cost way less than LuLu and Under Armor, that beings aid, buy key branded pieces if needed, but make sure they have performance features that can enhance your workout. Also, try not to work as much doing thing you would rather not do.
4. Finally, why are guys such creeps at the gym?
